Our yacht
Overview
Our Floating Home
We live full-time aboard our Lagoon 450 catamaran — a yacht we’ve turned into a true floating home. What started as a dream in 2016 became reality five years later. But buying a yacht was just the beginning. Making it livable, safe, and energy independent? That took another €100,000 and a lot of hard work. Welcome aboard Happy Cat — fully customized for long-term liveaboard life and ocean crossings.
What Makes Her Special?
We didn’t just buy a yacht — we rebuilt it from the inside out. Here’s what we added to make life at sea not only possible, but amazing:
- ☀️ 6 high-output solar panels (2.5 kW total)
- 🔋 1,120 Ah lithium battery bank with smart ventilation and BMS
- ⚡ Victron 5kW inverter powering everything from air fryer to washing machine
- 🌀 Smart Bluetooth-controlled energy management
- 💧 Watermaker (50L/h) + 80L water heater
- 🛟 Fire alarms and automatic extinguishers in all key compartments
- 🔌 USB ports in every cabin
- 💨 Electric toilets with freshwater supply
- ⚓ Upgraded 47 kg Mantis anchor with 100 m chain
- 🎥 Security cameras and smart floodlights
- 💡 Underwater lights, dry bilge system, and dozens of comfort tweaks
And yes — we documented all of it, step by step, on our YouTube Channel. Spoiler: it wasn’t easy… but it was worth it.
Total Investment?
More than €130,000 after the purchase price — and that’s just for upgrades and installations. We did almost everything ourselves (with some help from amazing professionals).
